Cyber House Party is powered by people. The music matters. The causes matter. The atmosphere matters. But what truly makes CHP special is the people who bring it to life, with the connections, experiences and memories they take away.
From the dancefloor to the work that happens behind the scenes, people find countless ways to contribute, connect and support one another. Some give their time and creative skills. Others discover a renewed sense of purpose, build lasting relationships or find themselves in conversations they never expected to have.
Together, these experiences reveal what makes Cyber House Party more than an event. It’s a community built on shared values, a love of music and a belief that bringing people together can make a genuine difference.
These are some of the stories that make it all worthwhile.
DJ Scott Ebbz: Volunteering with Purpose
Since 2020, DJ Scott Ebbz has been part of the Cyber House Party journey, contributing his talents across merchandise design, graphic design and DJing at events around the country.
For Scott, getting involved has always been about more than the music. It’s about supporting causes he believes in, working alongside people who share his values and finding personal fulfilment in giving something back.
Reflecting on his experience, Scott says:
|“I have been involved with Cyber House Party since 2020, contributing across merchandise and graphic design, as well as DJing at events all over the country. From day one, I have always felt that Cyber House Party’s intentions are completely valid and extremely worthwhile. Supporting charities like the NSPCC and The Cyber Helpline holds a very close place in my heart, alongside all the other incredible causes we helped champion in the early days. Volunteering has also played a massive role in supporting my own mental health. I have an instinctive core value to help out as much as I can, and being able to do that through CHP makes me feel amazing. I truly love volunteering here because our values align perfectly, and the people we get to work alongside are all like-minded, making every event seamless. I feel privileged to have watched CHP grow over the last six years, and long may it continue.”
Scott’s story is a reminder that volunteering is about more than what you give. It’s also about what you gain: a sense of purpose, meaningful relationships and the satisfaction of putting your time and talents towards something that matters.
When people come together around shared values, the impact can reach well beyond the event itself.
Don Gibson: Where the Dancefloor Becomes a Meeting Place
Cyber House Party brings together people from across the cyber security community, creating opportunities for connections that might never happen in a more conventional setting.
Sometimes, those connections begin with a conversation about work. Sometimes, they start with the music. And occasionally, they happen in a way that perfectly captures the unexpected magic of the dancefloor.
Don Gibson shares one such moment:
|“A few years ago, I was chatting with someone from sales on the dancefloor. He asked what did I do. ‘CISO’. He froze — one of these mythical unicorns in the wild. His mind was further blown when it was pointed out to him there were two others behind the decks (changeover). No need for cold calling. Just the best way to start a relationship….”
It’s a brilliant reminder that professional connections don’t always need a formal introduction, a scheduled meeting or a carefully prepared pitch.
Bring people together in the right environment, give them a shared experience and let the conversations happen naturally. A dancefloor might not be the first place you’d expect to meet a Chief Information Security Officer, but that’s part of the charm.
At Cyber House Party, the people behind the job titles get to meet, connect and enjoy themselves. And sometimes, the most valuable relationships begin when nobody is trying to make one.
What Makes It All Worthwhile?
Scott and Don’s stories are different, but they share something important: they show what can happen when people come together around a common purpose.
Cyber House Party is about music and events, of course. But it’s also about the things that happen around them – the people who step forward to help, the friendships that grow, the unexpected conversations and the shared commitment to causes that deserve support.
A few things stand out.
Volunteering with purpose. Giving your time, energy and skills can be rewarding in its own right. It can also help you develop new skills, meet like-minded people and feel part of something bigger.
Finding a sense of belonging. Whether you’re helping behind the scenes, creating designs, performing behind the decks or joining the crowd, there are different ways to become part of the CHP community.
Supporting wellbeing through connection. As Scott’s experience illustrates, volunteering can provide a sense of purpose and fulfilment. Feeling useful, building relationships and working towards a shared goal can all contribute to a more positive experience.
Championing causes that matter. Cyber House Party brings people together while helping raise awareness and support for charities such as the NSPCC and The Cyber Helpline. The energy of the community can be channelled into something with an impact beyond the dancefloor.
Making unexpected connections. As Don’s story shows, meaningful conversations can happen anywhere. Shared experiences create common ground, making it easier for people to connect as individuals rather than simply as job titles or professional contacts.
And at the centre of it all is the music. It brings people into the same room, creates a shared experience and gives everyone a reason to let their guard down, enjoy the moment and connect.
These aren’t separate parts of the Cyber House Party experience. They’re all connected, and together, they’re what make it special.
Make Your Own Story Part of It
Every community is shaped by the people who show up, get involved and bring something of themselves to it. Cyber House Party is no different.
You might come for the music and leave with a new friendship. You might volunteer your skills and discover a renewed sense of purpose. You might meet someone who changes the direction of a professional conversation — or simply enjoy being part of a community that wants to do something positive.
There’s no single way to get involved, and you don’t need to be behind the decks to make a difference.
Here are a few ways to become part of the story:
– Attend a future Cyber House Party event. Experience the music, meet the community and discover what makes CHP different.
– Volunteer your time. Find a way to contribute that feels meaningful to you and helps bring future events to life.
– Share your skills. Whether your strengths lie in DJing, graphic design, merchandise, organisation or another area, there may be a way to put them to good use.
– Support the causes we champion. Help raise awareness and support for charities including the NSPCC and The Cyber Helpline.
Whatever brings you to Cyber House Party, your contribution can help make the community stronger.
Because ultimately, the best stories aren’t just about the events themselves. They’re about the people who make them happen, the connections that grow along the way and the difference we can make when we come together.
Come for the music. Stay for the people. Leave knowing you’re part of something that matters
