We want to start this new series of blogs with a proper introduction for all new readers, and a reminder of how far we’ve come for those that have joined us since the beginning and along the way.
Cyber House Party started as an idea shared by a group of people working in cybersecurity who also happened to love music. It was back in the COVID days, when everyone was stuck at home, missing connection, and honestly just trying to get through it. People needed somewhere to show up, be themselves, and feel supported. So Cyber House Party became exactly that – a place to feel heard, to connect, to dance a little, and to have conversations that actually meant something.
What began as online events streamed straight from our living rooms quickly showed us something important: even after the world opened up again, people still craved those moments to unwind, share what’s on their mind, and spend time with others who “get it.” That’s why we kept going, building things out more intentionally, welcoming more volunteers, more supporters, and more people who wanted to be part of the mission.
Looking back at the last six years, it’s honestly wild to see how much has happened. We’ve organised countless events supporting the mental health of cybersecurity professionals, raised money for our incredible charities – NSPCC and The Cyber Helpline – and yes, we’ve had some proper boogies at our after-parties. But one thing has always been true: it’s never been *just about an after-party*. Our vision has stayed clear and consistent from day one:
Bringing together the cybersecurity community through music, well-being and connection – creating inclusive events that bring joy, build relationships and channel the power of community into meaningful social impact for both the cyber community and UK charities.
People – their wellbeing, their stories, their challenges – have always been at the heart of Cyber House Party. We believe in real conversations and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, appreciated, and understood. No topic is off-limits, and no struggle is too small. If it matters to you, it matters to us.
To make sure we’re focusing on everything that helps us move toward our mission, we’ve set four specific goals:
1. Foster wellbeing in the UK cybersecurity community
CHP’s events are all about connection, fun, and support. We genuinely believe community matters, and that a bit of party magic can make a big difference.
2. Provide a platform for UK not-for-profit organisations
We partner with non-profits so they can benefit from our reach, our events, and our volunteers. It’s all about amplifying their voice and impact.
3. Invite more people into cybersecurity careers
By opening our doors and our networks, we help spark interest, create pathways, and welcome new faces into the field.
4. Collaboratively fundraise for UK charities
Every penny raised by our sponsors, volunteers, and attendees goes straight to good causes. Fundraising isn’t an add-on – it’s part of who we are.
And what does all of this look like in practice? Well, let’s take a couple of past events (and their success!) as examples, because nothing explains CHP better than seeing what actually happens when our community shows up.
First up, the fundraising side of things. It’s one thing to say we support charities, but it’s another to show how that support turns into real impact.
At Infosec 2025, our community came together in the most incredible way and raised over £26,000. That money went straight to two charities we care deeply about:
– NSPCC Childline**, helping train staff and provide resources to protect children from online abuse
– The Cyber Helpline**, supporting people who’ve been harmed by cybercrime
What we love most is how these two charities complement each other – one protects children, the other supports individuals in crisis. Together, they cover two sides of the same challenge, and our community helped strengthen both.
But fundraising is only one part of the story. The other part, the one people talk about for months afterwards, is the connection. The energy. The joy of being in a room (or on a yacht!) with people who just *get* you.
Take Infosec Week, for example. It’s always full-on, but it’s also one of the most rewarding weeks of the year. Whether we’re hosting on the Sunborn Yacht or gathering at The Fox at ExCel, the vibe is always the same: human beings being human. No sales pitches. No pressure. Just people connecting because they want to.
And when you create a space with no hidden agenda – just the intention of bringing people together – something really special happens. You see friendships forming, worries easing, shoulders dropping, and people remembering that they’re part of a community that genuinely cares.
People often tell us how much these moments mean to them. One person shared how proud they felt being part of the team for the first time, seeing all the behind‑the‑scenes effort turn into real impact for charity. Another talked about the pure joy of getting behind the decks on the Sunborn Yacht – the kind of moment that sticks with you long after the music fades.
